As this was her own residence, the design of Rafter’s Road was truly a labour of love for Una McQuillan.
Designing it from scratch, the idea was to create a modern classic with a rich interior. From the outside the house is intentionally modest and all the more breath-taking when you step inside. Mezzanines, spiral staircases, split levels and huge living area, the house takes up only 1,750 square feet but manages to encompass 3 en-suite bedrooms. Elegance coupled with grandeur is evoked by the marble floors in the hall, ceiling height mahogany doors, and bespoke bedroom furniture designed by Una herself.
The subject of About the House, Una’s home has drawn much media attention and continues to inspire self-builds and conversions.
