GEORGIAN APARTMENT DUBLIN

This has been the most spectacular project within the Pembroke Road restoration works. Constructed in conjunction with the hall level restoration, this scheme was very much undertaken with imagination and comfort in mind.

The luxury of the project was time, which allowed refinements to the design to be undertaken as features were uncovered. The biggest internal feature became the stone party walls each side of this terrace house, which were so rich with texture and colour, that they had to be exposed. Colour-changing LED lighting, then enhanced these features, to brighten the space without trying to emulate daylight.

Every material was carefully chosen to unify with each other and timber moldings were taken from the upper floor joinery-work to bring the building back to what it may have previously been, since all historical features had been removed over time.

Since the building had been a tenement building from the early 1900′s up until as late as the 1950′s, it’s only fitting that the apartment, with it’s stone wall features, was used as a location for the recent TV3 programme, ‘Tenements’.
